A piece of apology AND a piece of good news from popland, fellas. The apology: Due to technical problems, we regret to say we lost the recording of last week’s show and thus could not put up the POPcast, which was a bit unfortunate because we’re sure you would have enjoyed songs from such artists as Asobi Seksu, Moving Pictures, the Cat’s Miaow, Baffin Island, and Indonesian indie legend Rumahsakit.
Now the good news: Our original DJ Japra is back from his break, rendering him available to serenade listeners of this week’s episode with his enchanting voice — with another batch of enchanting songs, that is. This week we’ve got the former June Brides’ very own Phil Wilson, Seapony, a sugary act featuring members of the Transmittens, as well as The Cavemen Go and Insect Guide, who have both recently released a single on netlabels February Records and Eardrumspop respectively. We also played Dum Dum Girl, Tiny Fireflies, The Divine Comedy, Tamankota, Prince Prassetyo, The Lucksmiths and Apple Orchard.
Speaking of whom, Apple Orchard along with a number of other Southeast Asian and European bands will each do a cover of Trembling Blue Stars song in Sacred Music, a Trembling Blue Stars tribute album which is to be released on London-based Dufflecoat Records early next year (alright then, we lied — that’s two pieces of good news instead of one!). Keep your eyes peeled for it, and until then, watch out for the next Outerbeat show and/or popcast!
